“Hidden Figures” Cast Wins Outstanding Performance in a Motion Picture At The SAG Awards

“Hidden Figures” Cast won the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the SAG awards.

“This story is about unity,” said Taraji P. Henson, who stars alongside Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe in “Hidden Figures. ”This story is about what happens when we put our differences aside and we come together as a human race. We win. Love wins. Every time.”

Black Excellence was alive and well at the 2017 Sag Awards with wins from “Hidden Figures,” to Viola Davis, Denzel Washington winning his first SAG Award, and Mahershala Ali. “Hidden Figures” is truthfully an inspiration and recognition to African-Americans in more than just stereotypes or athletes and entertainers.

Thank You Katherine G. Johnson (Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Monáe). You all helped America in a time when they didn’t want to help you. Thank You!

“Without them we would not know how to reach the stars,” Henson said, while Monáe and Spencer stood beside her, holding each other with tears streaming down their faces. “These women did not complain about the problems their circumstances. They focused on solutions…these brave women helped put men into space.” Henson added, later, “Thank you so much for appreciating these women. They are hidden figures no more!”
