On Saturday, May 19th, 2018, TNT and Bossip hosted sneak previews of the second season of the hit dramedy “CLAWS” in Atlanta, Houston and Washington, DC. Cast members in attendance were Niecy Nash, Carrie Preston, Jack Kesy and Jimmy Jean-Louis in Atlanta; Karrueche Tran and Harold Perrineau in D.C.; and Judy Reyes, Jenn Lyon, Dean Norris and Kevin Rankin in Houston.
Guests watched the first episode of the new season and enjoyed a Q&A with the cast moderated by radio personality Maria More in Atlanta, Dominique Da Diva in D.C. (the video for this is below) and Spoiled Latina in Houston.
While during the Q&A, Perrineu revealed that he originally passed on the role of Dean, Niecey Nash’s autistic brother, even though he was offered the part with no auditioning. He says he did not want to make fun of autistic people, and got a little scared.
“It was a really fine line, like we aren’t going to make fun of this character with autism are we? Because that’s not cool, and they definitely weren’t but I was still scared, so I passed.”
“Claws” follows the rise of five treacherous manicurists working at the Nail Artisans of Manatee County salon, where there is a lot more going on than silk wraps and pedicures. At the center of this diverse group is salon owner Desna (Niecy Nash), who works alongside her salon staff to launder money from Suncoast Rejuvenation, a barely legal pain clinic operated by the Dixie Mafia.
While it has always been Desna’s mission to break free of the redneck syndicate and become her own boss, last season saw Desna trade one crime boss for another as the Russian mob took control of both the pain clinic and the salon. With new management comes new problems for the women to navigate.
