After Big Boi and Travis Scott were announced as co-performers alongside Maroon 5 for the Super Bowl halftime show, Gladys Knight just announced her plans to perform.

As the Empress of Soul, Knight revealed that she will perform the National Anthem as this year’s Super Bowl. Stating “Atlanta, I’m coming home.”

Knight, a highly respected veteran in the music game does not need the attention of the game, which is why many feel partially slighted by her decision to perform. However, Knight released a video for her reasoning.

Knight says her audience is diverse due to change, and essentially wants this moment to help bring people to a better place. If only for a moment, like she has done in the past.
