Born Kaavia James Union Wade to Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union via surrogate; Kaavia is the first daughter for Wade, and first child for Union.
After husband Wade revealed the name of their child via. his tattoo, many people were wondering where the name came from, to which Union explained herself.
“@kaaviajames pronounced Kah-Vee-Uh James,” Union began on her social media post. “She has 102 nicknames including but not limited to Kaav, Kaavi, Kaavi Baby, Kaavi J, Jamie, KJ, Nugget, Nug, Pooters.” Union continued to discuss all portions of their daughter’s name. “Union is her middle name,” wrote Union. She then referenced her years-long struggle with infertility, explaining, “I’ve waited this long so fo sho I was gonna get in there ??♀️??☺.”
Wanting to include family, Union also explained that “James” is from her uncle, James Francis Glass, who is Union’s godfather.
It was also revealed today that the couple will have a special about them airing with Oprah on the birth of their child, which will air December 8th.
