A Black Woman Fashion Designer is Accusing Lala Anthony of Stealing her Design

Fashion designer Ash Forde has put actress and socialite Lala Anthony on blast after Anthony allegedly stole a design from Forde’s first collection to create a similar piece for Anthony’s first collection with Pretty Little Thing.

Anthony has launched her collaboration with clothes company Pretty Little Things earlier in the week, and that’s when Forde saw the dress in question being sold as a part of Anthony’s collection.

“Lack of quality. Lack of detail. Lower price points. Overly produced. Faster manufacturer,” Forde said on Instagram using a side-by-side photo of her dress and Anthony’s similar version.

Forde also shared details about working with Anthony’s stylist earlier about the original dress in question, just in a different color.

“I can’t express the amount of disbelief I’m experiencing right now. For another black woman to mirror the designs of another black woman, pure hurt.,” Forde shared on her original Instagram post. “We’ve seen this narrative so many times from different cultures, but girl — OURS? Before I launched @lala’s stylist @therealnoigjeremy reached out to pull from my first collection for @maisonashforde.”

In the post, Forde posts messages between she and the stylist in question before her official launch. The messages alleged that Forde met stylist No IG Jeremy in a clothing department store, she gave Jeremy the dress in question and messaged him days after meeting to see how the fitting went.

“We know that @lala had to approve these designs,” Forde continued. “The level of respect is at an all-time low. Being an influencer and new designer, I’ve never counted out small businesses. My rates are fair. I always give recognition and ALL OF MY DESIGNS are original. Just thought I’d share my story so it puts a dent into the cycle stopping in this industry.”

Anthony has not made any public statement yet, and we have reached out to her team for one.
