Faith Evans is back with new music with not only herself, but the greatest, The Notorious B.I.G. on an upcoming duet album called “The King & I” due out May 19th, 2017.
Produced by Evans and Stevie J, “Legacy” is the fourth selection from “The King & I,” following earlier releases of “When We Party” featuring Snoop Dogg, “NYC” featuring Jadakiss, and “Ten Wife Commandments.”
Evans just released a video for another duet song called “Legacy,” which has a series of vintage studio footage of the pair, and features cameos from Brooklyn mainstays Maino and Junior M.A.F.I.A. cohort, Lil Cease. “If there were a title track for The King & I, it would be ‘Legacy,’” Evans said in a statement, per Rolling Stone. “This song absolutely sums up the theme of the album.”
The 25-track set, with additional guest appearances by Busta Rhymes, Lil Kim and others, also boasts production by DJ Premier, Just Blaze, Salaam Remi and Chucky Thompson.
“I didn’t know how it was going to come together in terms of how I was going to approach it when we did get the chance to do it,” Evans told Rolling Stone. “One day towards the end of recording, I was playing the album back for different people and I just felt a tap on my shoulder and I just started bawling like, ‘I think he just told me he’s proud.’ I turned around like, ‘Get it together.'”
