Grammy award winning rapper Eve shared her opinion on Kanye West’s recent rant on TMZ, claiming that “slavery was a choice.” 

West appeared on TMZ and discussed his opioid addiction, his political views, and his most controversial comments on slavery. West said that for slavery to exist for 400 years with little to no backlash, was a choice. He continued on this rant with Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere with no pushback from the two, until Van Lathan stepped in to speak to West, black man to black man.

While discussing West on her talk show, “The Talk,” Eve let a lot off her chest.

“Every time I watch these clips, I get emotional… it is so disrespectful,” she stated. “I can’t understand how a black man that was born on the south side of Chicago can have these ideas. I can’t understand… his mother, may she rest in peace, was an African-American Studies professor. I cannot understand this.”

Eve went on to say, “at the end of the day, we all got lucky and got plucked out of our hoods and live these amazing lives, but you cannot be so far in your bubble to think you are not a part of what this history is.”
