After dropping his successful single “Automatic,” Day Kornegay has been on a high. The artist describes himself as an urban intellectual. “A combination of music, art, New York City, and all things creative… God sent me to share love and music with everybody.”
When you ask a music artist their top 5, you never really know what to expect. But when your top include Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, and Biggie; it makes you sit up and take notice. With that top 5 alone, you can see that Kornegay’s music style, and interest are eclectic, but work well together.
Being an alum of Laguardia high school adds to his resume. The school has many famous alum, including Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Aniston, Omar Epps, Wesley Snipes, Kelis, and many more. You can hear the influence of New York, and the school in his music. Especially with live music.
“I love to perform with other artists,” Kornegay previously stated. “It transcends songwriting and the songs themselves. When we went in to make the EP, we saw it as an ideal vehicle, an opportunity to make our own music and share it when we go on tour. My ultimate goal is to go out and play as much as possible.”
