Charlamagne Tha God & His Wife Speak On His Past Rape Comments: “Lenard, You Need To Learn How To Tell Stories” (Audio)

Charlamagne Tha God has been under fire these past couple of weeks after clips of him speaking on a 2001 rape case began resurfacing after the woman involved, Jessica Reid, has come back to more outlets claiming more allegations.

Although the case happened in 2001, the state of South Carolina, where both CThaGod and Red are from, has no statue of limitations involving sexual assault against a minor. Reid is planning on taking the case to the state Supreme Court, according to the Blast. Reid originally wanted the case reopened, but because of a plead deal struck with the host, they cannot allow it.

Charlamagne was arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the 2nd degree. Charlamagne took a DNA test while Reid was then uncooperative, and it cleared him of more serious charges. CThaGod pled guilty to a lesser charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and had to serve three years of probation.

CThaGod spoke about the rape charges and allegations because of his own explanations of the story on “The Brilliant Idiots” podcast. The 6 minute post is strictly Charlamagne speaking about everything that has been coming out towards him the recent weeks. The host has even turned off his comment section on Instagram.

“I didn’t handle that conversation in the right way,” CTG said speaking on past interviews. He also apologized to rape survivors who were triggered by how he conveyed the story. He explains that both he and woman in question went to the sex store to buy Spanish Fly, a libido enhancer, and planned to mix it with Brandy. Stating that he did not drug the woman, but that they “both passed out because we were both wasted, that’s what I was attempting to convey,” he explained.

Today on “The Breakfast Club,” Charlamage called his wife to speak on his past interviews speaking on a conversation he had on his Brilliant Idiots podcast. Talking about how it took him a year for him and his now wife to have sex, and the moment they did, they were both intoxicated. In the era of #MeToo, he asked his wife about that night and if she felt it was rape, but the way he talked about it made seem like he acknowledged it was rape and his wife agreed it was, although that was not the case as both consented.

In true CTha God blunt fashion, he asked “Talk to the people baby. Did I rape you the first time we had sex with each other?”

CThaGod’s Wife: Jessica Gadsen: Lenard, you need to learn how to tell stories. You shouldn’t have used the word rape first of all because the conversation we were having was about rape culture. So, the conversation we were having was that you felt it was okay to have sex with me while I was intoxicated. That’s a rape culture thing, thats not rape. So, when you asked me that question I was hesitant to answer you because you used the word rape. But, I mean that’s not what went down. We both know what happened, and I was not passed out, I was very coherent. Enough for me to lift my hips so you could take my panties off…”
