After the altercation between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj at Harper’s Bazarr Icon Party during New York Fashion Week became public information, fans have been speculating on what caused it. Both artists have shared their sides of the story, Cardi has said that Minaj spoke ill of her child.
Cardi B is the cover girl for W Magazine’s latest issue, and she opened up a lot. Speaking on her marriage to Offset, her emerging career, Minaj, and more. Cardi told W that Minaj has spoken about herself multiple times, and that she treid to clear the air. Most notably, at the Met Gala where the duo were photographed in the middle of a discussion
“For a while now she’s been taking a lot of shots at me,” Cardi said. “I spoke to her twice before, and we came to an understanding. But she kept it going.”
Cardi said the final straw was when she saw that Minaj allegedly liked, and then unliked, a tweet being critical of Cardi’s mothering skills.
“I was going to make millions off my Bruno Mars tour, and I sacrificed that to stay with my daughter,” Cardi B said. “I love my daughter. I’m a good-ass f**king mom. So for somebody that don’t have a child to like that comment… So many people want to say that party wasn’t the time or the place, but I’m not going to catch another artist in the grocery store or down the block.”
Minaj denied those claims, and attacked Cardi on her radio show, claiming she rose to fame because of “sympathy and payola.”
“I would never discuss anyone’s child,” she said . “It’s so sad for someone to pin that on me. I would never talk about anyone’s child or parenting, I don’t give a sh**. It’s so crazy to me that people always need to make Onika the bad guy. If you’re right in whatever you’re doing, you don’t ever have to make someone into the bad guy.”
The alleged tweet can be seen below. The tweet has not been confirmed to truly appear on Minaj’s social media.
