After Cardi B made history for being the first female rapper in 19 years to have a solo number one record on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, she’s continuing to grind. The first solo female rap record to top the charts was Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Top (That Thing),” and it held its position for two weeks. Cardi B’s Bodak Yellow” is now in its third week of being number 1, officially becoming the longest number 1 charting solo female rap record.
Tomorrow on October 10th, we get to see. how much Hip-Hop appreciates Cardi at the BET Hip Hop Awards. “Bodak Yellow” is nominated for Single of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video and Impact Track. Along with those nominations, she’s also nominated for Hustler of the Year, Hot Ticket Performer, Best new Hip Hop Artist, MVP of the Year, Best Hip Hop Style award as well as best mixtape for “Gangsta Bitch Vol. 1.”
Now, all we’re waiting on is the album!
Congratulations Cardi!
