After the initial announcement of Usher, Mariah Carey, Metallica and more performing at Global Citizen Festival, the organization has since announced additional artists set to participate in its 10th-year celebration.
Angélique Kidjo and Billy Porter will join the lineup of performers at Global Citizen Festival: NYC, which includes Mariah Carey, Metallica, Mickey Guyton and more.
Amber Ruffin, Antoni Porowski, Bill Nye, Katie Couric, Katie Holmes, Misty Copeland, Tamron Hall, Van Jones and more will join the New York show as presenters.
“I want to keep changing the world in as many ways as I can, and this year we’re taking it to the next level,” Porter said. “It’s been an extraordinary privilege to work with Global Citizen over the past few years, and I’m so excited to be joining the incredible lineup performing in Central Park for the festival’s 10th anniversary.”
Uncle Waffles will join the lineup of performers in Accra’s Black Star Square alongside Usher, SZA, Stormzy, Gyaki, H.E.R., Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Tems.
Award-winning actor, playwright and activist Danai Gurira will host Global Citizen Festival: Accra, with Berla Mundi, Joselyn Dumas, Michaela Coel, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Sabrina Dhowre Elba joining as presenters.
The Global Citizen Festival in New York and Accra will take place on Sept. 24 and will be broadcast and streamed worldwide on YouTube, Twitter, Amazon Music, the Amazon Music channel on Twitch, Apple Music, and the Apple TV app.
