Beyoncé is setting records for Black women in Country music but also breaking personal records.

The night of the Usher Bowl, the Houston native surprise dropped 2 country songs, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages.” Despite some pushback and criticism across platforms and some Country stations, Beyoncé’s further dive into the Country music genre has garnered support across social media platforms and some Country artists themselves

“Texas Hold ‘Em” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart at number 2, while debuting at number 1 on the Hot Country Chart, becoming the first Black female artist to debut on the Country chart.

The song also allowed Beyoncé to have several Billboard number 1s across several charts: the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Hot Gospel Songs, Hot Latin Songs, Hot R&B Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

“16 Carriages” debuted at number 9 on the Hot Country Chart and number 38 on the Hot 100 Chart. The Country chart’s creation can be dated back to 1944 under various other names.

Both songs are expected to be on Beyoncé’s upcoming album, which will be released on March 29. “Act. II” followed the artist’s “Renaissance” album and world tour.
