BET Releases 3-Part Docu-Series That Focuses On Former Video Vixens And Their Experience In The Music Industry

The docu-series, properly entitled “Vixen,” will features commentary from iconic hip-hop vixens like Melyssa Ford, Karrine Steffans, Buffie the Body, Gloria Velez and more. It will focus on the ladies views of their experience, and first-hand accounts in the Hip-Hop world, and how everything started to change.

While focusing on the women’s perspective, but also commentary from people in the industry that helped make everything for these women a reality. Editors, managers, video directors, etc. to showcase what the intent was with these women being in the forefront, and what changed over time.

We were the aesthetic,” former video vixen Melyssa Ford stated. “We were part of the fabric.”

From watching the first episode, BET focuses on these women rise and fall in the industry, but their character. How perception is not always truth. The episodes will also shine a light on the double standards in the industry with women in light of the #MeToo movement.

The docs-series will be delivered in 3 parts. The first was released today, the second will be out Wednesday, July 11th, and the third will be released Thursday, July 12th, 2018. You will be able to watch the series in full Friday, July 13th, 2018.
