Angie Stone’s Children Release a Statement Following Her Tragic Passing

Multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Angie Stone tragically passed away at the age of 63 in a fatal car accident over the weekend.

Stone was traveling back to Atlanta with members of her band after a performance in Mobile, Alabama when their sprinter van was struck by an 18-wheeler truck. The impact caused the vehicle to flip three times, resulting in a devastating crash and Stone being pronounced dead at the scene.

She is survived by her two children, Diamond Stone and Michael Archer, grandchildren, family members and adoring fans across the globe.

“Never in a million years did we ever expect to get this horrible news. Our mom is and will always be our everything. We are still trying to process and are completely heartbroken,” Diamond Stone and Michael Archer said.

Known for her rich, soulful voice and timeless musical contributions, Stone was a beloved figure whose influence spanned decades. From her early days as a member of The Sequence, the pioneering all-female rap trio behind “Funk You Up”, to her acclaimed solo career, which brought hits like “No More Rain (In This Cloud)” and “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” her artistry left an indelible mark on R&B and neo-soul.

Fans, friends, and fellow musicians have taken to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to Stone’s incredible legacy. As the industry and her loved ones process this sudden loss, her music and impact will undoubtedly live on, continuing to inspire generations to come.

“We are truly devastated at this unexpected and unfortunate tragedy, and there are simply no words to express how we feel,” shared Walter Millsapp III (Angie’s longtime Manager).

Stone’s albums, Black Diamond (1999) and Mahogany Soul (2001) achieved gold certification, and she earned multiple Grammy nominations for hits like “More Than a Woman,” “U-Haul,” and “Baby.”

Beyond music, Stone explored acting while continuing to release deeply soulful albums, including Rich Girl (2012), Dream (2015), and Full Circle (2019). In 2023, she released her 10th and final studio project, Love Language, under SRG-ILS Group.

“No no no, I could not believe it when I received the call that the most beautiful soul, is now gone. I am completely heartbroken, we loved so many of the same things and people. I put her on the phone with Chaka Khan a bunch of times for them to laugh about the old days, and Chaka who is a big fan, loved her very much. The Angie I knew was always a beam of light and super positive, her contribution to Hip-hop and R&B is cemented in our collective consciousness,” Claude Villani – CEO of SRG-ILS Group.

“The family thanks her millions of fans worldwide and asks for privacy during these difficult times,” reads a statement.
