Amerie is the latest guest for NPR’s Black Music Month Tiny Desk session. She’s joined by D.C.’s own Go-Go legends, Backyard Band.
Returning to Washington, D.C.—the city where her breakout hit “1 Thing” was born—added a full-circle moment to the occasion, especially as the song celebrated its 20th anniversary this year in January.
Amerie performed “Talkin’ to Me”, “Why Don’t We Fall in Love,” “Mine,” “I Just Died,” “Rolling Down My Face,” “Talkin’ About” and closed with “1 Thing.”
Her soulful set, backed by Backyard Band’s infectious Go-Go rhythms, served as a vibrant tribute to her musical career.
