(Los Angeles, CA – January 24, 2020) – God’s House of Hip Hop 20/20 Summer Fest, covered by Pollstar, Billboard and GRAMMY.com, announced the 15 headliners for the July 17 and 18 event. The list includes some of the most celebrated talent representing Christian Hip Hop (CHH), Latin CHH, and Gospel Hip Hop music.
The headliners for Friday, July 17, include Alex Zurdo, Derek Minor, Aaron Cole, Flame, WHATUPRG, Steven Malcolm and Manny Montes. Headliners for Saturday, July 18, are Canton Jones, 1K Phew, Aha Gazelle, Dee-1, Jor’Dan Armstrong, Bryann Trejo, Emcee N.I.C.E. and Angie Rose.
“It’s super crazy to think that we’d be playing in a venue of this magnitude,” says Minor. “It’s humbling number one, but it also testifies to the impact of being honest and true and authentic. I think a lot of times people think that you have to fit into the mold of what every else does but I’m thankful that we’ve been able to stay true and authentic to who we are and glory pour on us.”
Fifty additional artists were revealed Thursday on the 20/20 Summer Fest Instagram page. Other artists performing on the opening day of the festival include Wande, Canon, S.O., TH3 SAGA, Propaganda, Jered Sanders, Joey Vantes, and more.
Dee-1, a former middle teacher in New Orleans, says being a headlining artist for 20/20 Summer Fest and performing feels like a dream. “Honestly, it’s crazy to look behind me and see a huge stadium like that,” he stated. “My students didn’t believe me when I told them Mr. Augustine aka Dee-1 was not only going to make it but was not going to compromise anything I stand for. God is still going to be first in my music.” He added that the festival confirms that the genre has “made it.”
DJ Standout applauds the 20/20 Summer Fest Executive Producers Aulsondro “Novelist” Hamilton aka Emcee N.I.C.E. and Chantal “Chanie G” Grayson’s commitment to grow the festival. “The beauty of it is that Emcee N.I.C.E. and Chanie, you guys have put it all together,” he says. “It’s not just a one year thing. You have a vision for this to be a year after year thing and for it to grow. I’m just excited for the momentum that dreaming this big can be great for the culture and all the things we are working on it.”
Emcee N.I.C.E. and Chanie G are also the owners of the Stellar Award-winning God’s House of Hip Hop radio station powered by Dash. Hip Hop pioneer and legend Kurtis Blow, and syndicated radio personalities Chris Chicago and Willie Moore Jr. are three of the event’s hosts. The event’s seven deejays are legendary DJ I Rock Jesus, Hot 97’s DJ Tony Tone BKS, DJ Standout, one of the top female deejays, Fleet Gospel DJ Ms. Eclectic, Stellar Award Winner DJ Dwight Stone, DJ Jesus Beats and DJ Will from Jacksonville.
There will also be other notable deejays from the culture at the festival who have shows on God’s House of Hip Hop Radio — DJ Jeremaya from Trackstarz, Coalition Kingdom DJ’s – DJ Mr. CSA2K Coalition Kingdom Heat and Gospel Fleet DJ B4EY from Fresh Leftovers.
Hamilton and Grayson’s God’s House of Hip Hop (GH3 Radio) which boasts 24/7 programming of Christian Hip Hop (CHH), Latin CHH, and Gospel Hip Hop music has been nominated for the 2020 Stellar Awards Internet Station of the Year. Last year, GH3 Radio won Hip Hop Station of the Year.
God’s House of Hip Hop celebrated its one year anniversary in August.
