Melodies, mixed with her angelic voice will put you in a trance. Capturing your mind, body, and spirit. An essence of R&B; Alex Isley is able to capture her audience from the first line in every song. Her tone alone sets the trend of essential R&B. Creating a waterfall in the mind whilst relaxing, cruising, chilling or smoking.

She’s captured her sound from the first EP to the second. The Beauty of Everything describes Isley’s music perfectly. Beauty is in happiness, sadness, questions, and state of being. The Beauty of Everything Pt. 1 was released in 2018, while The Beauty of Everything Pt. 2 was released in May of this year.

In reference to the first EP, one track in particular that sticks out to me is “When It Rains.” It’s a state of being, feelings, and emotions everyone has been through. While it’s the longest track on both EPs, it’s such a song of substance that time doesn’t matter.

While one can hear elements of Sade in this particular track, Isley is still her own person through all songs. “When It Rains” focuses on things getting better. Nothing stays the same forever, good, bad, or indifferent. The rain will come and wash your worries away, you’ll be okay!

The Beauty Of Everything Part 2 focuses more just on love and love life. Just look at the track titles alone: “Road To You,” “What Lovers Do,” “Love on-Demand,” “Water & Air,” and “We’ll Always Have Paris.” Although she is R&B/Soul, you can hear a lot of Jazz music influence in terms of singing style, especially in “Love on-Demand” featuring SiR.

“Tell me what do you feel like?/ We can leave the country, or stay right here/ Have the option to go fly, Whenever you change your mind/ Baby just say the word, You ain’t got to tell me twice/ You’re already heard, Already know that I/ Can make you feel/ The way that I feel for you”

Just like the first EP, Isley captures your attention throughout. While the first Ep seems to tell a story about a relationship that may have failed, Part 2 sounds as though Isley has found good love again, at least in the songs. She’s telling stories, and taking the listeners on a journey. The projects show that track-listing is just as important and song and lyrics, especially for them to both be a few songs, a story is told (beautifully).

When you hear the name Isley, you automatically think of one group, the iconic Isley Brothers. And after doing some research, I realized she is a part of the legendary family, but doesn’t rely on the name alone. She’s working on her own. When I first heard her sing, it was due to Twitter, and I fell in love with the first song.

While she is family of such an important music group in the culture, she is making her name her way. Isley is sure to gain traction, and become a greater sensation in the upcoming years.
