AFRO PREAK is back and bigger than ever. As it enters its fourth year, the cultural powerhouse returns to Baltimore with events from May 15–17, aligning with the 150th Preakness Stakes, while bringing a bold celebration of Black culture, community, and economic empowerment.

Since launching in 2022 by LaRian Finney and Derrick Chase, AFRO PREAK has grown into a nationally recognized platform that redefines what it means to celebrate heritage within traditional spaces, like the historic infield of Pimlico Race Course.

“This weekend is about redefining access,” said Finney, Managing Partner at The Finn Group and Founder of AFRO PREAK. “By expanding AFRO PREAK to a full weekend and partnering with Urban Golf Weekend, we are creating a vibrant, inclusive cultural destination that delivers economic value to Baltimore’s local businesses and communities.”

The weekend expansion includes an exclusive welcome reception at BLK Swan was held on May 15 where Baltimore’s tastemakers, creatives, and business leaders gathered for cocktails amongst curated entertainment, and culture-forward conversation.

Debuting this year is the AFRO PREAK Golf Invitational, a groundbreaking partnership with Urban Golf Weekend centering inclusion and access in the world of golf. The tournament will be held on May 16 at Pine Ridge Golf Course, bringing together executives, athletes, and changemakers. Proceeds will benefit BTST Cares youth programs.

On Saturday, May 17, AFRO PREAK takes over the Preakness Stakes infield with its signature luxury experience. Guests will enjoy VIP hospitality, high-energy entertainment from DJ Quicksilva, DJ Flow, DJ P Drama, DJ Supream and The Bearded Drummer, plus a culinary lineup that features Slutty Vegan, Bar Vegan, Carolina Kitchen, Island Quizine, and Poppin Shells Seafood.

The event is hosted by VII(N) – The Seventh Estate, co-founded by Carmelo Anthony and Asani Swann, with activist Tamika D. Mallory also joining the leadership team.

Over 2,500 attendees are expected to attend, along with a growing list of high-profile sponsors—including 1/ST Racing, Coke Consolidated, Diageo, Mana Supply, and Black Lives Matter.

AFRO PREAK is shaping up to be one of the most important cultural gatherings of the year.
