It appears that artist Akon is still on the road to running for president of the United States with Mark Zuckerberg in 2020.
Akon first made headlines about running for presidency earlier this year in March with TMZ. Akon stated that he would “love to challenge and debate Donald Trump,” all from a hypothetical question. It appear however, that Akon has seriously put thought into it, and may follow up with his words.
Akon has been more than just an artist in the past couple years, from building schools and giving power to countries in Africa, to working on helping Puerto Rico, Akon has transitioned into an emerging and powerful humanitarian. In a recent interview with Newsweek.com, Akon expanded on his earlier presidential run comments.
“I’ve been thinking about running for 2020 very seriously,” he began. “But I didn’t want to just do it because I feel like I want to continue doing what I’m doing and hope that builds me enough momentum [for people] to say, ‘You know what, if you run we’ll support you.'”
He also continued on how he feels in Trump’s America, being a Missouri born male, that has lived in Africa with straight African decent.
“I feel a lot more unsafe. I feel unempowered. Honestly, I feel it’s gonna be a fight. I feel like I should be always prepared for the unexpected. I feel very uncomfortable. And I feel a lot of Americans do; even some white Americans feel that way because they’re watching backlash of his decisions. It’s not what’s happening now, because it’s clear it’s creating a whole bunch of divide today. But I think tomorrow that impact is going to be so much more devastating.”
