Over this past weekend, old tweets from Kelvin Pena (Brother Nature) resurfaced. The tweets range from blatant racism and ignorance, however, he apologized and stated the tweets were made at the age of 12.
Pena rose to fame from the end of 2016 to early 2017 with his viral videos talking to and feeding deer, which he has now created into an emerging empire. Pena and his number one doe, Canela, warmed the hearts of millions and became viral sensations over night.
Some of the old tweets involve comments on domestic violence, saluting Hitler (Tyler The Creator lyrics), calling Jay-Z a monkey and more. “When I grow up I wanna be like Chris Brown. So if my girlfriend tried to look through my phone while driving I can choke and punch her,” was one tweet. Another was “TL stopped loading .. too many coons on my TL that’s why f***.” Being on Twitter from 2011, I noticed that a lot of Pena’s tweet were recycled, “viral,” tweets that many people tried to use to gain followers, and at the age of 12, Pena was definitely easily influenced.
Pena, who is of Puerto Rican and Dominican decent has issued an apology. “I woke up this morning to seeing my old tweets resurface on my timeline and my heart dropped,” Pena wrote. “I started using Twitter when I was 12 years old, I was very impressionable and was seeking attention. I am sorry to all of the people that I offended and have let down. I apologize or 12 year old Kelvin and take total responsibility for my words. Everyone changes, everyone learns, and everyone makes mistakes. That’s why I spread so much positivity with the platform I was given, to be .a role model for the kids. I hope that all of my friends, fans, and followers truly understand and believe that I have evolved as a human being and I lead with love. I was a child and am now a man asking you to accept the apology of a young boy.”
