Katy Perry sat down with Deray for his podcast “Pod Save The People,” which hasn’t officially appeared on iTunes yet, but videos have emerged.
Thanks to twitter user @lil_skyscraper_, we have video of the conversation where Perry openly discussed the cultural issue.
“I’ve made several mistakes, even in the “This Is How We Do” video, about how I wore my hair. Having a hard conversation with one of my empowered angels, Cleo, about what does it mean? or Why can’t I wear my hair that way? What’s the history behind wearing the hair that way?
The conversation is needed, especially with Perry since she has been doing this for awhile. However, the future will determine if she is genuine in her actions. Especially since her first 3 singles from her new album, “Witness,” features black artists (Skip Marley, Migos, and Nicki Minaj).
I think it’s amazing that Katy Perry can admit when she’s wrong and that she’s tried educating herself on issues! #KPWWW pic.twitter.com/CaYUrOqElU

However, Perry, in release of her new album, has been doing promotion in a different way. She has been going live on YouTube talking to different people, and even having a therapy session where she reveals she’s scared, and yet, she’s tired. Tired of Katy Perry, and wants to be herself.
