Nas, a great OG Hip-Hop lyricist, anything this man touches is gold, not only with music, but with “The Get Down” as well.

The great rapper released a new track called “Angel Dust” from the soundtrack of The Get Down Part 2, the popular Netflix series based on the beginning of hip-hop in the 1970s. The song references the huge drug epidemic in New York City during from mid to late 1970s, which correlates with the show.

“Angels with dirty faces, angels with broken wings/The devil’s dust, PCP, invaded blood streams/People lining up to get it, Fantastic knew how to flip it/Illegal substances constructing, but plus addicted/Trust it and respect it, almost got me arrested/All of the time I invested in school is now of question/Child prone to violence like a dog returns to its own father,” he raps.

In an interview with Billboard,  the lyricist discussed Mass Appeal’s partnership with collaborative workspace WeWork. He was also prompted on the whereabouts of his 12th studio-album. He said that “for sure” it will drop some time in 2017.

“Nas, I know you made a record called “Nas Album Done” but I guess the album isn’t finished yet?

It’s not done till it hits the streets.

But the studio in this office is going to help create the vibe.

Oh yeah, that room is where we’re finishing everything.

Can fans expect this album before the year is over?

For sure.

Any titles in mind?

Not yet, not till release.

Will you drop tracks before the whole album comes out?

We might do a single but we might do something different.”

Only time will tell when the album comes out, but we do have a good while before 2017 is over. Nas will also be touring the UK over the summer, beginning Jul. 7 at the Wireless Festival in London.
