HGTV Orders New Seasons of Hit Series ‘Ugliest House in America’ and ‘Scariest House in America’ Starring Retta

HGTV is delivering more ghastly and ghoulish content with an all-new order of 12 episodes split between two fan-favorite series: “Ugliest House in America” and Scariest House in America,” both hosted by actress, comedian, and home design enthusiast Retta.

“I’m back looking at ugly houses in America babeee!” Retta exclaimed. “And yes I am also back (with much less enthusiasm) to look at the scary ones. Look, between that months-long SAG strike and the current uncertainty of the market, Mami needs the work. This mortgage won’t pay itself.”

Ugliest House in America:

Following its previous season’s massive success, drawing in over 10.3 million viewers, Ugliest House in America is back for another six-episode run. Retta will deliver brutally hilarious commentary while traveling coast-to-coast, visiting and judging homes nominated by their owners, from appearance, poor functionality and hideous design choices

At the end of the season, one home will be crowned the “Ugliest House in America” by HGTV and receive a jaw-dropping $150,000 makeover courtesy of network favorite Alison Victoria. The new season is set to premiere in 2026.

Scariest House in America:

Just in time for Halloween, “Scariest House in America” will return with six new episodes following a breakout debut season that captivated over 8.3 million viewers. Retta will journey through the Midwest, Northeast, and South to tour homes that homeowners say are haunted, whether by ghosts or just terrifyingly bad design.

Retta will deliver unfiltered reactions to chilling stories and creepy aesthetics, and at the end of the season, one property will earn the title of “Scariest House in America,” and a redesign from Alison Victoria.

The second season is slated to premiere in September.

Fans looking to catch up or relive the previous seasons can stream past seasons of both series now on Max® and discovery+.
