Their work is not only critically acclaimed, but also serves as a reflection of our culture while tackling important social issues with nuance, authenticity, and an unwavering commitment to storytelling.

The live “Creator Conversations” event will take place on June 14th at the New World Center and will allow attendees to engage directly with these iconic creatives, gaining insights into their creative processes, the inspirations behind their recent projects, and the unique challenges they have faced in their illustrious careers.

“We are truly delighted to get a rare glimpse into the minds of three trailblazers who are reshaping the landscape of film and television. Ava DuVernay, Kenya Barris and Issa Rae are incredibly talented creators whose work and careers we admire tremendously,” NICE CROWD President Nicole Friday said. “ This on-stage conversation will provide the audiences with in-person access to these iconic creatives, allowing them to engage and hear directly from these celebrated artists.”

The 2024 ABFF Creator Conversations with Rae featuring DuVernay and Barris promises to be a remarkable and unforgettable event that will inspire and empower audiences to continue to champion the diverse and innovative voices that are shaping the future of film and television.

The festival will occur in Miami Beach from June 12-16, followed by an online segment between June 17-24 on ABFF PLAY.
