The 28th annual American Black Film Festival is honoring the legend that is Denzel Washington with its first-ever “Retrospective: Celebrating the Legacy” program.
The Retrospective will highlight Washington’s extraordinary acting career and cultural impact through themed activations, screenings of his iconic films like Devil in A Blue Dress as a part of , and a closing night tribute featuring an onstage interview with the man himself.
“We are thrilled and honored to present Denzel Washington with the very first ABFF career retrospective,” said ABFF founder Jeff Friday. “Denzel has supported ABFF from the early years, so spotlighting his career is a full circle moment.”
The program will honor Washington’s achievements on and off screen as an actor, director, producer, humanitarian, husband and father.
The special Denzel Washington tribute will take place on June 15 during the multi-day film festival in Miami Beach.
The 2024 ABFF will take place in Miami Beach from June 12-16 followed by an online segment from June 17-24 on ABFF PLAY (https://abffplay.com/).
