After a little over three years, Victoria Monét has released the follow-up to her 2020 EP, ‘Jaguar,’ with the Jaguar ll album. With 11 tracks and features from Lucky Daye, Buju Banton, Earth, Wind & Fire and her daughter Hazel, Monét continues to distinguish her sound and creativity.
The album includes previously released singles “Smoke” with Lucky Daye, “Party Girls,” featuring Buju Banton and the recently released “On My Mama.”
“On My Mama” was met with love on its debut, but the love was especially present with the release of the video. Monét gave love to Black Southern culture and included many viral meme moments across Twitter in the process.
“‘On My Mama’ is the soundtrack to positive affirmations,” she said in a press statement. “I wrote it postpartum when I wasn’t feeling my best, but spoke to how I wanted to feel. Singing the lyrics about yourself will change your frequency, and elevate a positive mental state. The words speak not only to physical features, but to a feeling too because I believe when you feel good you look even better! Give yourself the words you need to hear because it’s true, you look good! There’s no one like you and that’s on ya mama. Enjoy being yourself witcha fine ass!”
