#NewVideo, K. Michelle Gets Personal on “Just Like Jay”

After giving us “Supahood,” and “The Rain,” Kimberly “K. Michelle” Pate have given us a third video from her forthcoming album.

Pate’s fifth album, All Monsters Are Human, is being released tomorrow, January 31, 2020. Whereas “Supahood” was uptempo, fun, and featured rappers, and “The Rain” is sensual and sexual, “Just Like Jay” gives us back personal Pate. Being a writer, and co-writer is what Pate has been doing her entire life, and now is no different.

In “Just Like Jay,” Pate talked about her personal life and fights. While she isn’t outright expose everything, she touched on a lot. Criticism, hurt, pain, but still standing. “Maybe you’ll realize when I’m gone, That this was about more than some songs/ This was about way more than the charts, This here was right here from my heart…”

One interesting fact about Pate’s new song is her leaving Atlantic records. This album appears to be the first independent album, on her own label Chase Landin d/b/a No Color No Sound. Check out the new video below.
