4 Minneapolis Officers Have Been Fired Surrounding George Floyd’s Death

Once the viral death of George Floyd took place, Minneapolis’ mayor, and the police department couldn’t deny facts. A result is four police officers being fired.

Floyd died after a police officer was attempting to arrest him, and placed his knee on his neck. On video, you can hear Floyd say “I can’t breathe,” just like Eric Garner in 2014. Minneapolis’ Mayor Jacob Frey expressed concerns on Facebook, and said that “the right choice was made” in firing the police officers.

The video was thankfully caught by bystanders, and you can see people trying to intervene and stop what’s going on, as well as record. While one officer’s knee is on Floyd’s neck, another officer is facing the surrounding crowd. The entire time, Floyd is in handcuffs, and you can physically see the impact in Floyd’s face and eyes.

Why were the police called? According to their press release, the cops “responded to the 3700 block of Chicago Avenue South on a report of a forgery in progress.  Officers were advised that the suspect was sitting on top of a blue car and appeared to be under the influence.” They also stated that “Officers called for an ambulance.  He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance where he died a short time later.”
