That Rihanna Reign Continues: Rihanna Becomes First Woman to Surpass 200 Million RIAA Singles Certifications

In 2009, she sang, “That Rihanna reign just won’t let up,” and the line continues to hold true today.

As of April 15, Rihanna has become the first woman to surpass 200 million RIAA singles certifications, despite not releasing a full studio album in 10 years. She currently holds third place on the all-time list with 200.5 million certified units.

Although Anti marked her last full studio album in 2016, Rihanna continues to see her catalog resonate across generations, with deep cuts going viral, attracting new listeners, reconnecting longtime fans, and driving sustained streaming and sales activity.

Her more recent contributions include “Lift Me Up” for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) and “Friends of Mine” from the 2025 Smurfs film. She also returned to the stage as the 2023 Super Bowl halftime performer.

That milestone, combined with the enduring success of her eight-album catalog, further cements Rihanna’s place in music history even if a long-awaited ninth album never arrives.
