Sheryl Lee Ralph’s DIVAS Simply Singing! Marks 35 Years with Jenifer Lewis, Loretta Devine, Andra Day & More

A legacy of art and activism continues as Emmy® Award-winning and Tony®-nominated actress and advocate Sheryl Lee Ralph, together with her nonprofit organization, The DIVA Foundation, announces the 35th Anniversary Gala and Taping of DIVAS Simply Singing!.

Since its launch in 1990 by Sheryl Lee Ralph, a devoted advocate for positive change, DIVAS Simply Singing! has continued to champion advocacy through the power of artistic expression.

The foundation was established as a tribute to the friends Ralph lost to AIDS during her time in Dreamgirls on Broadway and has spent decades using creativity, compassion, and advocacy to raise awareness, fight stigma, and promote wellness.

The 35th anniversary event will showcase dynamic performances from Emmy Award-winning actresses Jenifer Lewis and Loretta Devine, GRAMMY Award-winning artists Lalah Hathaway and Andra Day, GRAMMY-nominated country artist Mickey Guyton, Grey’s Anatomy star James Pickens Jr., musical artist Gina Taylor-Pickens, legendary vocalist Freda Payne, and rising R&B artist India Shawn.

Additional performers and special guests will be announced in the coming weeks, promising an evening that unites music, advocacy, and purpose.

“This gala is more than just a celebration—it is a powerful call to action,” declared Sheryl Lee Ralph, Founder of The DIVA Foundation. “For 35 years, we have unwaveringly committed to our mission through song, purpose, and service. This year’s DIVAS Simply Singing! will boldly honor our rich history, continue our impactful efforts, and strategically focus on advancing health equity for the future.”

The DIVA Foundation will also present its esteemed DIVA Honors program, celebrating outstanding individuals whose contributions embody the organization’s mission of equity, wellness, and advocacy. This year’s honorees include:

  • Lula Washington – Artistic Activism Award for her impact in dance and cultural expression
  • Jewel Thais-Williams – Ivory Ralph Legend of Distinction Award
  • Dr. Maya Green – Health Advocacy Award
  • Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. – AARP Crossover Living Legends Award
