Chicago — As of Thursday, May 30th, 2019, Cook County prosecutors filed multiple new series of sexual assault against R. Kelly, adding 11 felony counts against the singer, on top of the 10 he is already facing. He faces up to 30 years in prison.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the new charges against Kelly stem from the sexual abuse of Jerhonda Pace, one of the young women who spoke out against Kelly in the Surviving R. Kelly docu-series. Being a minor at the time of the alleged sexual assault in 2010, Pace has spoken out about how she met Kelly, what she;’s been through, and how she escaped.
The new charges include four counts of aggravated criminal sex assault, three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between the ages of 13 and 16, two counts of criminal sex assault by force and two counts of aggravated criminal sex abuse, according to court records.
In February, Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal assault, stemming from four women, three of whom were underage at the time of the alleged events. Along with the charges, there has been a new alleged sexual assault tape found with Kelly with an underaged girl.
