R&B songstress and multi-award-winning platinum artist, Tweet, returns to the music scene with her new single, “Toot Toot,” kicking off the musical journey of what “Memoirs of a Southern Hummingbird,” her upcoming album, will be all about.
“Toot Toot” was written by Tweet, Walter W. Millsap III, Erick Walls and James Owens Jr. It was produced by Millsap for Conjunction Entertainment Inc., known for work with Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Brandy, Jennifer Lopez and more.
“I’ve always wanted to set the record straight about the hiatus…. So many unreleased records… I never stopped creating,” Tweet shared. “I kept recording, kept writing, kept living. Now I’m finally in a space to give my fans the real story. All the true gems that never made the cut,” shares Tweet. “This is TWEET! Welcome to the Memoirs Of A Southern Hummingbird. 🖤 #ImBack.”
The groove and storytelling of “Toot Toot” showcase that Tweet’s musciality and tone have not wavered, but instead have matured with grace and depth, reaffirming her place as one of R&B’s most distinct voices.
The visuals for “Toot Toot” were directed by Javier Crump.
“We wanted to capture nostalgic elements from the early 2000’s when I first hit the scene,” Tweet said about the video. The old-school soulful essence of the song gives the feel as if I was performing this song in my own personal living room. I love the vibrant colors, and along with the vintage decor, it played a major part in painting the picture for me to tell this story of love and break up, all while I am sitting strong and sure,” she adds with a chuckle.”
