The Long teased collab between Khalid and Normani is here, “Love Lies,” which seems as a mix between R&B and alternative.
“Love Lies” is a featured song for an upcoming movie called “Love, Simon,” which will be released in March of this year.
“Love, Simon” is a self discovery journey for a young man who hasn’t come out as gay yet, but has falled for a mystery student. IMDB says, “Everyone deserves a great love story. But for Simon it’s complicated: no-one knows he’s gay and he doesn’t know who the anonymous classmate is that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, scary and life-changing.”
With Khalid’s raspy voice, alongside Normani’s soft and silky voice, the duo vocals seem to really empower one another.
[Verse 1: Khalid] “Sorry if it’s hard to catch my vibe, mmm/ I need a lover to trust, tell me you’re on my side/ Are you down for the ride?/ It’s not easy for someone to catch my eye/ But I’ve been waitin’ for you for my whole damn life/ For my whole lifetime”
[Verse 2: Normani Kordei] “I’ve been so into your mystery/ Is it because of our history?/ Are you into me?/ When it feels so good, but it’s bad for you/ Can’t say I don’t want it ’cause I know I do/ Come on over, I need your company/ Cravin’ that synergy”
