Hours before the release of her new album Caution, Mariah Carey’s Glitter soundtrack reached the number one position on the iTunes chart.
The soundtrack’s reemergence came after Carey’s fans, who she refers to as her lambs or lambily, started the hashtag #JusticeForGlitter on Twitter. Before the soundtrack reached number one, Carey thanked her fans on Twitter, writing, “Not sure what’s happening but I love it! The lambily is great at getting #JusticeForGlitter.”
Released in 2001 with poor reviews, Glitter was stamped by many critics as a flop, but a fan favorite by a lot. Glitter is currently on sale for 4.99, and is still currently number 1 on the iTunes album charts. Carey posted news of the album reaching number 1 on the charts with the following caption on Instagram,
“I have to dedicate today’s #tbt to Glitter, which is currently #1 on the iTunes albums chart, 17 years after its release and on the eve of my new album release! My fans are THE BEST ??? #JusticeForGlitter!! LET’S GO #CAUTION⚠️“
