Last year, it was reported that both Rihanna & Cardi B turned down performing at the 2019 Super Bowl. However, Cardi just revealed what went into play with her decision making.
Cardi B spoke with the Associated Press, saying that initially she had “mixed feelings” in regards to her decision. She said it was a hard decision but felt obligated to defend and stand behind Colin Kaepernick because he “stood up” for minorities.
“My husband, he loves football. His kids play football. It’s really hard for him. … He really wants to go to the Super Bowl, but he can’t go to the Super Bowl, because he’s got to stand for something,” said Cardi B. Offset, being from Atlanta, hasn’t said much on the topic, but Cardi’s statement show him in a different light.
“You have to sacrifice that,” she added. “I got to sacrifice a lot of money to perform. But there’s a man who sacrificed his job for us, so we got to stand behind him.”
