An SWV biopic has been in talks for years now, which started back in 2013 when the group had their own reality show on WEtv in 2013, and now it looks like its finally going to happen.
While Sisters With Voices Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Leanne “LeLee” Lyons and Tamera “Taj” Johnson-George are still making music, their story of becoming one of the most R&B groups of the 90’s has yet to be told on screen. But fans might not have to wait much longer.
“We’re actually in talks [for] a SWV biopic, so stay tuned,” Coko told HipHop DX in a recent interview. “There’s so much that people don’t know.”
“Everyone’s interested,” LeLee added.
SWV was one of the best-selling girl groups of the ’90s, having sold over 25 million albums with hits including “Weak,” “Right Here/Human Nature,” “You’re the One” and “I’m So into You,” and more. The group disbanded in 1998 to pursue solo projects, and reunited in 2005, and they are still making music today. They are currently celebrating their 25th anniversary in the music business.
